I just don't get it, SONY16D1:
Data DVD, UDF, no video files, no VIDEO_TS, only a file backup:

Yes, I have burned the media successfully before. Yes, DVD-R 16x rated.
Yes, less than 4.37 GB.
1st try: not even a lead-in.
2nd try: some data written, then error.

Although you haven't stated, based on the logs, I'm guessing you're using either IMGBurn or DVD Decrypter.

1) Have you previously successfully burned (what I believe is) DVD-R media with this same burner?

2) Are the image files less than 4.37Gb in size?

A quick and easy test would just be to buy some Verbatim (MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden discs and try again.

I personally prefer +R Verbatims (over the -R's) and -R Taiyo Yudens (over the +R's).

It just doesn't seem to like the ones you're using at the moment.

Well, to set the record straight: after LIGHTNING_UK asked for a more detailed log, I searched the drive and found something, yet after he mentioned MCCs, I found another one (saved); I knew I had some MCC dye media failing as well, but wasn't aware that the error was the same!
The burner was purchased brand new last April.

I wasn't reading the logs properly in the past.

(Cough....) I used to think that MCC dye media and genuine Verbatim ones especially are always one of the best. Not after I had to return one full pack of 50pcs where all the top six turned into coasters immediately. The next RMA pack was good.

I would just say two bad packs, nothing more. But thank you for the suggestion. If LIGHTNING_UK sees this, please tell me your opinion, is this error caused mainly by fault media?

Hi --

I recently ran into this problem myself. I just bought a hundred pack of Taiyo Yuden DVD-R8x (GG007009) -- ImgBurn 2.2 gives me that "Incompatible Format" error. I've never had this problem with my burner before. I've used all sorts of media, cheap and expensive, DVD+R and -R. I just finished a box of T-Y DVD+R8x (TG000040). For what it's worth, ImgBurn recognizes my burner as "HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GRA-4120B F114 (ATA)." Anyway, I don't expect a solution -- apparently my burner doesn't like this media. But I wanted to second jeffy's problem.

I'd be tempted to just buy another burner. You can pick them up for £20 - £30 now so it's hardly worth your time / money messing around with different discs and trying to fix something that should just be working anyway.

Indeed, your drive really doesn't like (or even support - full stop!) those discs. The drive shows them as DVD-ROM which clearly isn't a good thing! Also, notice the lack of 'Disc ID' and 'Supported Write Speeds' in the log.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll buy another stack of discs first, though; this is, after all, the first time I've had a problem, so I'd like to hope that there's something wrong with my (expensive!) stack.
