I have a copy of the VIDEO_TS folder of a DVD on my hard disk. I had copied it to the hard disk before i lent it to one of my friends. The DVD was badly scratched when he returned it.The drive won't even recognize the disc now.

I want to encode it as a x264 video. Since i haven't ripped the VOBs from the DVD using something like DVD Decrypter, is there some preprocessing that needs to be done on the VOBs before i create the d2v file and follow the remaining steps in the MeGUI guide ?

TIA :)

Are they decrypted? To find out, open them in the tool DGIndex. If so, save the project and load the d2v into megui, if not, you'll have to burn them back onto a DVD in order to properly rip them with DVD Decryptor.

(Burning is just the simplest way, you could also create an ISO out of them and mount it as a virtual DVD drive.)

Hi!The DVD was badly scratched when he returned it.The drive won't even recognize the disc now.1) Clean the disc

2) Try using the utterly remarkable (freeware) "ISOPuzzle" to recover the disc

3) Insist that your friend buy you a replacement!
