View Full Version : How about removing LMP4, Snow and mencoder from MeGui?

Why, I ask this:

1. Snow isn't really usable and development seems to have stopped for quite some time now.

2. Nobody seems to care about LMP4 support. Not beeing able to see the command line, not beeing able to enable turbo for automated 2pass. Me range, # Motion Predictors form prev. frame, Scence Chance Threshold all set to zero; not beeing able to configure custom matrices,...

I understand that all these could be fixed, if someone with the right knowledge got the time and drive to do it, but it seems like no one really uses these two and no one cares.

So how about removing mencoder with snow&lmp4 from megui, keeping it just to be able to say: "We support it" doesn't seem to me such a great idea. Especially if no one is using lmp4/snow with megui. (I wanted to, but switched to using mencoder directly.)

To make this clear I do not mean to remove them from the project in general, but to remove them from current builds and the update routine.

ehrm, yes - that's why he's asking for a complete remove of it respectively support of current builds for it ;)

Dirac would be an interesting replacement for Snow, since it's more stable and has some respect from important places.

Yup, dirac would be nice, if it is at least usable enough that one can use it to at least encode some stuff. ;)
