I am using Virtual Dub to encode in DivX 4 format. I use also Gordon Knot and an average of .2 bytes per frame. And I always end up with a file 20mbs more than I planned. I have heard about this DivX 4 log editor, But I am lost on how to use it. Does anyone know any tricks for getting more accurate file size. I have tried several quantizer settings and it doesn't help much.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I am not sure what you mean by Gordon Knot and bytes per frame. I have no trouble using VDub and DivX 4 and getting the right file size. I use the default quantizer settings and do two passes using the log file. Set your bitrate according to the DivX 4 calculator which you can download just about anywhere and you should be fine.

DivX 4 is always a bit unpredictable, at least what final filesize is concerned. GKnot is usually fairly accurate, unless you use filters that affect compression.
I don't really like Dix4log myself, but you find a good guide at Everwicked.com (http://www.everwicked.com).
