Realtime De-interlacing.

Now I know this topic has been covered before, but I don't think it has been touched on much from what I could find since 2002. Anyway, I was wondering if it were possible to deinterlace in real time with virtual dub, or a program like dscaler. I'll be capturing very lenghty video clips with xvid, and don't want to have to rencode it all again just to deinterlace, losing a bit of quality in the process.

Yes, but not in VirtualDub, but using ffdshow+DScaler.

You should capture interlaced! Maybe even interlaced MPEG-2!

I tried ffdshow last night, but couldn't capture at all because it requires a width and hieght of 2 or something. I think thats my resolultion, which I can only use 720x480 on this card.

If you have ATI card, you can use the software that comes with the card. It gives the best values because it used the hard ware encoder in the card.

That is not true, since most ATI cards use software encoding. It also gives the worst quality.

Just capture via a lossless codec (plug for HuffYuv here), then you can do whatever you want with it.
