I've heard many times in here that verbatim is one of the best media to record onto. I was curious does anyone know if they ever outsource? I was wondering because recently I've seen a lot of verbatim dvd+r and dvd-r spindles really really cheap (like $13 for a 50 pack) in comparison to even memorex and such. Before I buy a boatful I wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to end up regretting it. Thanks!

If you get them from newegg.com. they're real. Not sure about the other sites.

Hi!Before I buy a boatful I wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to end up regretting it.Just buy one 50 pack - and quickly burn one from the top of the spindle, one from the middle of the spindle, and one from the bottom of the spindle.
If all turns out well, "buy a boatful" ;>}
BTW - Many, if not most positive posts about Verbatim media are specifically regarding the Verbatim D/L (DVD9) DVD+R, rather than Verbatim S/L (DVD5) DVD+R or DVD-R...

I was curious does anyone know if they ever outsource?Yes, they outsource to several companies, but they supply these companies their technology so the outsourced discs are as similar in quality as the originals as possible.

CMC MAG's Verbatim media I've seen were NOT really reliable.

Hi!
It's important to note that both instances you've referenced are specifically regarding "Verbatim (Pearl White)", and not the far more prevalent Verbatim silver top media, which are typically excellent quality media manufactured by Mitsubishi (Manufacturer's ID of either "MCC" or "MKV")...

Agreed, MCC ones are better. But I was unpleasantly surprised seeing badly referenced CMC in a Verbatim package.

Actually I recently bought a pack of Pearl White which beared a Ritek media code. They were crap with my burner. :mad:
So I guess it's safer just to avoid all the Pearl White DVD+R's , it seems to be the Verbatim budget line, not manufactured by MCC but by other companies. :rolleyes:

You are right, they are CMC and Ritek, even DVD-R media
