I read that DivX 4 dont need so much Bits/Pixel as DivX 3.11.So what do you suggest to a 1cd/2cd (bits/pixel)?
And should i follow the same compress rules against first pass size(60-75%) with divx 4 or can i go higher in resolution(maybe 50%) and it will still look good?
Thanks :D

With divx4 I usually go for 0.2-0.25 and get great results (in my opinion). with SBC divx3.11 is probably just as good if not better.

I don't understand why people insist on messing about with settings (bitrate and framesize between passes), do you sit in front of you computer waiting for it to finish ?, go to sleep and it will be done in the morning, start another before going to work/school and it'll be done when u get home. Why take any chances that might compromize output quality ?.

I mean the first pass will be encoded with the max 6000 and to get good result you stay with 60-75% of that(with divx 3.11).And my question is should i follow the same rule with divx 4 or can the movie look good with 40-50% of the first pass size because it dont need so much bits/pixel?
I always do a compressibilty test before i choose my resulotion and choose 1 or 2 cd.And now you can do it for DivX 4 to!!
So idont think you understand me there

Hi Ripe 73-His English is good, and I had no trouble understanding the question. Even if he didn't understand the question, it's no excuse for being rude. I think you were too easy on him.

But I don't work with DivX 4.xx, so I don't know the answer. But I don't think I'd raise the resolution by 50% compared to DivX 3.11

Thanks for reply!!!
But i dont talk about raise the resolution with 50%.I talk about the stats/log-file.How much the movie compress..
When you have done a comp.test and drag the slider in GKnot to see whats the best resulotion for the movie is.
Recomended is 60-75% for divx 3.11 but i mean maybe divx 4.xx dont need that much and i can go for a higher resolution.
Maybe my English sucks:)
okey shit same :)

Sorry if I seemed rude in my first post.
I thought u were talking about changeing settings between first and second pass in divx4, which i think is extremly silly.

I have never done any direct comparison of divx4 2-pass and divx3 SBC encoded movies, but I think any differences are bound to be rather small.
