vbr mp3 -- mux with nandub or wave head

hi,
i heard that muxing vbr mp3s with nandub would mess them up, if you want to extract them again. (never had any problems)
So is it better to add a wav header and then mux with vdub or just mux the mp3 in nandub, like gknot does it too?

go to http://www.virtualdub.org/virtualdub_news
and read "12/02/2001: How seeking in AVI really works, a.k.a. why your sync is off"

You'll find that 9 out of 10 encodes will work just fine in NanDub. If not, add the WAV header to the MP3 and mux them as a WAV file.
Edit- wavemp3 is the app that adds the header.

I've never had VBR mp3 work with a WAV header. Has anyone else? Wav headers work with CBR MP3 though. But Nandub has muxed pretty much every VBR MP3 correctly for me.

I've used it with LAME 3.90 ABR & VBR. Seems to work fine. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I used Vdub or NanDub to mux it though.

If you have used the newer version of HeadAC3he you will see that it also outputs a VBR/ABR MP3 file with a WAV header. They mux perfectly as a WAV file in NanDub, for me at least.
Again, I have to agree with Lotion Boy, you shouldn't have any problems just muxing the raw ABR/VBR MP3 into NanDub.
