I'm relatively new to editing video, and I've got a few questions. Firstly, I have some videos that seem to be in the wrong aspect ratio (things are stretched out vertically). I'm wondering what is the easiest way to permanantly fix this. I also use VLC, and it makes it easy enough to change the aspect ratio on the fly, but I want to re-encode the files so that they are right. They're in AVI format, and I'd prefer to keep the format and size of the files the same.
Also, I've authored my own subtitle files for these videos. They are in .srt format, and work fine using VobSub and windows media player, but I'd like to add them permanantly to the files (these are forced subs, so they're always necessary in the film.) Again, I would prefer that the format and size of the files was unchanged.
Like I said, I have VobSub and VLC, and I also recently downloaded TMPGEnc, although I'm not sure if it will be of any use to me.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
