hi, im using a NEC3550A for all my video backups, and im switching from my sony dvd+r's (im running out) to taiyo yuden premium silver dvd+r's (TYG02). i have heard that the new 03's arent' that high quality, but what about the tyg02's?

because they're dvd-r's, not dvd+r's, will i end up with worse quality or shorter archival life, or are these just as good?

i normally burn at 8x for max quality anyway, but i found these for $35/100spindle at the supermediastore so im wondering if its a good deal afterall...

8X media isn't being made much anymore, so those could already be more than a year old. That may or may not affect their quality or archival life, but I wouldn't go for it.

hmm.. it seems like 8x media is still widely produced, especially with quality mf's like ty and verbatim.. but is there really any way to tell if they are new, considering the same media codes are produced for years?
