first of all, i am new to this program (literally just found out about it a week ago). i have tried to take my dvd9 and compress it to a dvd5 multiple time and every time i have gotten the following output:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v412/JunnyLudLoafBug/vlcsnap-6232607.jpg
to help you help me, what follows is all the info that i hope is necessary to fix this:
DVD-RB SETUP:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v412/JunnyLudLoafBug/dvdrb.jpg
CCE SP VERSION: 2.70.02.12
DGDECODE.DLL VERSION: 1.4.8.0
DVD-REBUILDER VERSION: 0.98-Free
now, i did some searching and saw that dgindex.exe is another program, but how/am i supposed to point dvd-rb to the .exe?
thanks for any help and please let me know if more info is needed.

Use the same version of DGDECODE.DLL that comes with DVDRB.
I think it's 1.4.5. PUT IT IN THE SAME DIRECTORY of DVDRB. Make sure the path for it is correct in the settings (path to decoder).

DVD-RB free ver will put a DGdecode.dll in its own directory during installation, change the path of the decoder in the DVD-RB setup to that ver of DGdecode.dll.
It should work then.

Uninstall DVD-RB, and if you didn't before, get the version that has its own installer, don't try to install it by hand. Thats when things go wrong
Also, use AviSynth 2.5.6a, that release fixed a few problems and some avisynth filters will NOT work with v2.5 (I know by finding out the hard way when filters refused to work correctly until I installed 2.5.6a). AviSynth 2.5.7 may work, but does have problems with some filters
Using the installer is quite important as it puts everything where it should be and most importantly the versions of dll's that DVD-RB works 100% with
There are a couple of things that can be changed after installation with regards to newer versions of the .dll's but DVD-RB cannot be guaranteed to work 100% with the latest releases, it probably will but the ones that come with the installer will work perfectly with DVD-RB everytime
They do get updated occasionally, but only when they are stable and have functions that DVD-RB will use. If the newer versions of DGDecode.dll don't have functions that DVD-RB will not use, thats why support isn't added for the latest. Why break something that works perfectly
If you do like the software, its well worth paying the small fee and getting the latest pro version as it adds quite a bit more in terms of what the user can control to squeeze the best out of your source, plus the auto notifications when a new pro version is released. You get it a ssoon as its been released
The freeware version is still supported, but is quite a bit behind the pro version and the pro version has things that will never be in the freeware version, but the freeware version does do the same basic job, just not as much can be controlled by the user

Heres a couple of recent guides that have been created, not by me as I never managed to get around to sitting down and going through the process
The 'free' version
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvdrb_free_basic_ops.cfm
the 'pro' version
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvdrb_pro_basic_ops.cfm
This is also a very good way to see the differences between 'free' and 'pro', and its a lot, especially with the control the user has over the final output
