Hi all,
i'm new on the forum.....
i've a question:
If i wan to install CCE SP2,
under the menų "Setting/Setup", would have to try CCE SP2? Under which path?
P.S.
path to CCE SP (new) is used from CCE SP .....
:thanks:

If you install it DVD-RB will find it. The path is pulled from the registry entry created during install. The registry entry is found in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder\Clients\SP2\InstallPath"

ok jdobbs :)
:thanks:
I'm a VIP user.....and for me, DVD-RB is simply the best.
a your opinion....
CCE SP2 is better (output quality) of CCE SP?
before making encodig of a DVD-Video with CCE Sp2, will have to add (in rebuilder.ini) the lace "SP2_Support = 1"?

I personally can't tell the difference between SP and SP2. Others have reported it is a little faster -- but my experience is that it's about the same speed as well.

ok,
I must add the lace "SP2_Support = 1" in 2rebuilder.ini, before making encodig of a DVD-Video with CCE Sp2?

No. That isn't necessary. All you have to do is select SP2 from the "SETTINGS/CCE Settings" menu. Also -- when you do add things to the INI files, make sure you don't insert spaces. The lines will not be read correctly if you do.

Ok, thanx Mr Jdobbs.

I personally now use CCE SP2, its supposed to be the same encoding engine as CCE SP, but I've found it is faster at encoding, not by much but its a start
I do find that for some reason the settings change themselves so that CCE SP2 gets confused and tries to use the ECL from CCE with CCE SP2 when encoding so that then stops with an error, and I find that the settings for which CCE version I use have changed from CCE SP2 to CCE, and I didn't change it
Apart from this minor and unusual annoyance that seems to have no reason, things run very smoothly

Can you SP2 users get the 'run minimized' option working? The encoder windows open full size for me. Although I guess it's better than running minimized but stealthily stealing focus like SP original sometimes did.

Not in my eyes. ;)
More than 3 passes is overdrawn IMHO.
With an average bitrate around 4800 I wouldn't use such a low bias and stay with the default 25.

:thanks: for the reply,
in 4800Kbs overall bitrate or in one average bitrate the default VBR_Bias(25) is good! i've understand!
And with a small bitrate (2500-3000 kbs) it would be better to use a low VBR bias (14-18)?
:thanks:

Sorry i could not found an answer on the question about how
to force CCE SP2 to run minimized?
"Can you SP2 users get the 'run minimized' option working? The encoder windows open full size for me. Although I guess it's better than running minimized but stealthily stealing focus like SP original sometimes did."
It is very dangerous since this status window gets automatically
be the current and if you press some button it is recognized as
you are pressing on the "cancel" button. It is just only one
button in this window.

Can I choose in OPV mode other matrix than CCE default?.
I have tested this mode with the "old" SP version, and I can choose any matrix, but with SP2, I always got the same Q value, independently of the matrix that I have chosen.
jdobbs
15th July 2007, 10:10
No. The matrix would be chosen based upon the bitrate. Since you don't specify a bitrate with OPV, it doesn't stand to reason you would be able to select a matrix.
tom942
15th July 2007, 12:01
But with HC or CCE SP I can choose different matrices in the main feature or am I wrong?.
jdobbs
15th July 2007, 13:45
They won't be used if you are using constant Q no matter what encoder is selected -- for the reason explained earlier.
tom942
15th July 2007, 21:07
Mmm, I think we are not talking about the same thing.
I'm not talking about the Q value for bitrate distribution, I'm just talking for "One Pass VBR W/analysis".
Until now, if I did a test with CCE SP 2.70 with CCE's default matrix, I got a Q factor of 26 (in my example), but if I did it with AVAMAT6, I've got a Q factor of 16. I'm talking about the value obtained at the end of the prepare phase, when DVD-RB does several tries until it gets the more appropiate Q to stay in size.
But now, if I do the same thing with SP2 (always selecting "One Pass VBR W/analysis"), the matrix is ignored. It doesn´t matter if I use default matrix or AVAMAT6 matrix, I always get the same Q factor, in my example, 26. It's like with SP2, the matrix chosen is ignored.
I hope to explain me better.
See you.
Edit: I have sent you an email with the ECL's.

As I tried to explain, the matrix is always has been ignored in OPV. Why? Because you normally choose a matrix based on the bitrate -- and the bitrate is unknown at the time of the encode in OPV.

May 2nd, 2007 (v1.25.0)
CHANGES MADE TO PRO VERSION
Updated OPV processing to allow an alternate matrix. Now
OPV will use the specified as "Main Feature Matrix." In
OPV the matrix will not change based upon bitrate -- as
it is necessary for predictions to be made using a single
matrix and quantizer/Q value.
If I use CCE-SP or HC, the matrix I have selected it is used, but with CCE-SP2, it is ignored.
Please, look at the mail I have sent you :).

Hmmm... I must be going braindead. I'd forgotten about that. I'll check and see if the SP2 module wasn't updated.

Thanks JD :). It's normal be tired, more if one read the bitrate distribution thread and the annoying CCE bug :).

@jdobbs
I bump this thread because in 1.26.5, when you enable Bitrate Distribution with Final_Q=1 (I haven´t tried with BaseQ), it still ignores the matrix you've got selected.
It uses CCE default matrix, instead the one you've got ticked in "Main feature matrix" option.
