720p x264-> DVD

if I burn a 720p x264 AVI to a DVD using ConvertXtoDVD, will the DVD be 720p? I'm under the impression that because DVDs use MPEG-2 compression, the higher quality will be stripped. Thanks in advance.

You can burn a dvd with a 720p resolution, but the bitrate wont be enough for 720p mpeg2 compression on a dvd.

So if you ask me, I would say you're better off if you down scale it to dvd resolution.
