"Step 2: Add the two audio tracks
If you have CBR tracks (MP3 or AC3) you can alternatively use Avimux but Nandub allows much more flexibility. So start up Nandub, press Control-O to load your soundless AVI, set video to Direct Stream Copy (Video - Direct Stream Copy), then access the audio menu."
is it necessary that the AVI has no sound??
or can i add a secondary audio track to an avi that contains an audio track?

No!

Yes!
It's possible with both programs. In Nandub use secondary audio track, in Avimux just open your avi and it shows the video and audio tracks that are already there, then you can add another one.
You could have simply figured this out if you had tried it!

hello Sibe,
I've posted a note under the nandub newbies forum about some pb about
creating DivX with 2+ audio streams. (my nick is sinister, i've posted it on Tuesday 01/01/02)
According to you, it's very easy to make them but i've some pb using
PowerDivx NG 3.12 to watch the result especially with the 2nd audio stream.
Can you have a look at it pliz ?

actually, sibe, i beg to differ. i just tried that
for fun. i had an avi file with one track, and when
i tried to add the secondary track, it wouldn't let
me access the secondary audio menu functions until
i specified an audio track in the primary audio menu
(even tho there was an audio track there already).
so i had to mux the video stream with both of the
(previously extracted) ac3 streams basically from
scratch. no big deal, but it seems like it should
be possible to do as you suggest; add an extra ac3
stream to a preexisting avi/ac3 muxed file.
suggestions?

suggestions?
Actually, no. This never happened to me, always worked fine. To leave the already existing audio track in the file you have to select AVI audio as the primary stream.

i had overlooked the "AVI Audio" setting (oops)
but when i tried it, while trying to add a
secondary AC3, it didn't work. Hmmmm. Not a
big deal, i suppose, since if you have the
secondary track, there's no reason why you wouldn't
have the first so you can remux from scratch ;>
cheers
