When DVD is backed up, 1st with ripit4me, then shrink, then pgcedit, then imgburn. There continues to be a skip about 18 minutes in. Now I've created about a dozen coaster I don't need. Am I missing a step here. Thank you.

Hi!
1) Have you played the original DVD, on the same player, to make sure it doesn't also skip?
2) What is the Title and Region of the DVD?
3) What did you do when using PGCEdit?

Original works fine on same player. Title Eagles Live at Melbourne. How can I find the region? When I used PGCEdit, I grabbed the file folder that shrink created, then scanned the VOBs, then added back the 32 KB gap, then burned via IMGBURN.

How can I find the region?Typically, you'll see a number in or on a globe, on the DVD label and or packaging.
Are you having this problem ONLY with this particular DVD? If not, you might want to try different (perhaps higher quality) burnable media - and burn at a lower speed.
Have you tried creating one WITHOUT applying the 32k gap?

No, Dycrypter and shrink(only those two) worked just fine for backing up my library as of, Sept or Oct 2006. Back ups started to freeze and skip. I will try without 32k gap. Wonder if there is a way to see if back up is good without having to make coasters with the bad copy.

If the hard drive version plays properly and then you burn it and the burned media skips, you'll then know that the problem lies with either the burner, media, or playback system, but not in the ripped DVD "package".
One step at a time ;>}

Thank you. setarip_old. I will try both, burn w/o 32k gap after I preview on VLC player. Will the windows media player I currently have on machine suffice instead of VLC player?

Will the windows media player I currently have on machine suffice instead of VLC player?It should, IF you have an MPEG-2 codec installed...
