This is not really a DVD ripping problem, and I have done search but couldn't find answers. My problem is very simple, some very distasteful hollywood producer padded DVDs with over 10 minutes of trailers and junks and force me to watch through every time. Is there a DVD region genie kind of tool to make it possible to skip to main movie or at least make the trailer progress bar draggable?

You can accomplish this by using the RipIt4Me "package". You can download this excellent freeware from:

www.ripit4me.org

While you're at that site, read the excellent "how to" tutorial...

(I believe you can also accomplish this using PGCEdit...)

setarip_old, thank you for the reply. This seems to be a nice and simple tool, but I don't know if it does what I'm want. Basically, I want to be able to skip to main movie without ripping and burning a new DVD.

A hacked version of MPC which could drag the progress bar when playing the trailers (currently grayed-out) and use the jump to next title would be nice.

I want to be able to skip to main movie without ripping and burning a new DVD.Try using (freeware) "VLC player" and selecting the TITLE (and Chapter) that represents the beginning of the movie - or just drag the slider.

The same should be doable with (commercial software) WinDVD...

In MPC, you can usually use the navigate context menu to go directly to the Root Menu, even if the DVD restricts it. It doesn't seem to work so well for seeking directly to a Title or Chapter on those discs, though.
