x264 videos end up with only audio playing

Hi all,
When i tried to convert my supertroopers dvd film to x264 using staxrip i get a file that has only audio i think. In MPC it just plays audio with a black screen and in VLC it just plays audio.
I had the settings pretty much default: mkv, exactquality and i made sure that it was cropping everything right, and i set filesize for 1024mb.
Any ideas on what to do?

For the future, is it possible to get the video to be 1:1 with the cropped pixels? like if the dvd cropped is 720*552 i want to be able to set that, not somethin like 720*330

Also, how do i grab chapter times from my dvd files?

Woh, woh!
You have got a lot of questions here. First of all, what settings did you use to encode your movie?
Second, do you have ffdshow? If so, make sure that it is set to decode h.264 content.
Third, I don't believe that you only encoded audio, or else the file size would be alot smaller (atleast it should be).
Fourth, why do you want to set you video to be 1:1? That is just a square and usually it looks horrible.
Fifth, what version of Staxrip are you using?

Edit: You can get chapter times using ChapterXtractor, set the output to be OGG format, and mux it with, well what ever you want I suppose, although I recommend MKVToolnix.

I just left it as default

I forgot to mention this but it plays other x264 encoded videos fine, an example is a 1gb 720p Prison break episode

Im going to setup a raid server, that i will put my DVD collection onto, and i want the videos to be 1:1 pixel ratio after cropping, for the highest possible quality but not too large.

Fifth, what version of Staxrip are you using?
