I have searched for over an hour and cant find this as a topic!

So. I have a blu-ray burner and a 360 hd-dvd drive attached to my pc upstairs & a ps3 plugged into the plasma downstairs.

What I want to do is play a hd-dvd only movie via the ps3. Is it possible to rip the hd-dvd to the hard disk via anydvd. process it in some way and then burn it in a blu-ray compliant manner to a BD-RE disk for playback in the ps3?

Mods. if this is in wrong forum, sorry please move.

Yes, theoretically it's possible (rip, demux, re-author with Scenarist HDMV).

Hmm.

demuxed it ok but the files it provides are well strange!

Cant believe no-one has attempted to do this yet. There must be a guide somewhere.

Anyone?

Consider a few things: the HD formats are both less than a year old. Think back to DVDs.. you didn't find much in terms of backup up DVDs in 98.
Both disc formats have different contraints in terms of video streams, need different authoring tools, have different capabilities. As it is now, if you have an IME title, you can forget about reauthoring because the BD-J capabilities are simply not there yet. Also, while re-authoring a DVD has always been complex, this adds a whole new level of complexity.. I doubt you'll see feature identical reauthored titles going either way any time soon.

And this belongs in an authoring forum, not a decryption forum.

You can do it with no problem. Actually a Greek magazine had an article how to do it.
Simply decrypt and demux the assets. Then you need BluRay authoring to author in that format.
The assets are the same. Both use the same codecs

decrypted main movie to an vc1 file, 3x ac3 files and a mlp file.
Cant find out what to do with them! I dont need a menu or anything, just for movie to autoplay would be fine. Do you have a link or more information regarding that article?

Sorry, but none of the authoring programs I have tried, namely scenarist, dvdit pro HD or ulead bd recorder, will accept the demuxed vc1 file. They all state that it is a invalid format.

Also what is the mlp file, and what do I do with the 3 separate ac3 files? Unfortunately this is not simple to me. I do apprieciate your assistance.

mlp=Dolby TrueHD
dvdit pro HD accepts only mpeg2 HD and probably Ulead also
Scenarist accepts vc1 but it should have been encoded with cinevision to work best. So I think there should be a trick to reencode or cheat scenarist

mlp=Dolby TrueHD

It is not really that. But only a license of Dolby.
MLP can support 6 channels and, Dolby TrueHD 8 channels and more....
