I'm wanting to import my DVDs into my computer but I've been wanting lossless quality for all my imports. I decided to simply leave the DVDs MPEG-2 video stream as it is and mux it and the other parts into an MP4.

The major problem with this though is that AC3 isn't spec compliant and (from what I've read) won't work in most players. After reading bond's MP4 FAQ I can see that the only form of lossless audio in MP4 is ALS. I've not been able to find anything I can use to convert the audio itself though. Can anyone here help?

You missed ALAC...

btw,
AC3 is a lossy format. So transcode it to a lossless format is useless imo.
There is no ALS decoder dshow based afaik.
