I am trying to backup the 2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl DVD. I am faced with a few challenges on this thing. It seems that everything is working against me. Like the title states, the disc is Interlaced, 4:3, with high compression and a low bitrate. There is a lot of action and the background is a green grass field. Anyone have any recommendations on what I should try on this thing?
Should I just throw in the towel and just put it on a DL?
Here is a little info:
Reduction Level for DVD-5: 51.6%
- Overall Bitrate : 2,176/1,741Kbs
- Space for Video : 3,680,686KB
- HIGH/LOW/TYPICAL Bitrates: 2,411/1,206/1,741 Kbs

Thanks in advance...........

If you have access to it, ProCoder is generally a good choice for more extreme compression settings.

If it's just not possible to get acceptable quality, try the "Resize to Half-D1" option.

Try to remove unecessary extra stuff. Extra audio channels, additional commentary. If you dont have anything to lose. Try to shrink the original menu to stills with menushrink if willing to go over that or additional intro/outros. Depends always on the content that want to keep. Menus many times can give u a lot of additional space. You can even go with stills without audio.

Good Luck.

I would go with DL if you have it, unless you find Half-D1 acceptable I don't think any encoder/filter options will make high action sports footage look acceptable at that bitrate.
