Using mencoder (set up correctly on my ubuntu) I would like to do the following:
THE INPUT (.ts file):
==========================================
Mpeg2repair
Sequence Frame 77132(413-I) / Time 0:53:36 :
AudioWarning: Timestamp gap of 0.096000 sec. ending at file offset 5060877300
Sequence Frame 82927(63-P) / Time 0:57:38 :
Info: End of MPEG2 sequence
Sequence Summary:
File Size Processed: 5.05 GB, Play Time: 00h:57m:38s
1920 x 1080, 29.97 fps (23.98 fps Telecine), 14.20 Mbps (10.71 Mbps Average).
Average Video Quality: 54.50 KB/Frame, 0.22 Bits/Pixel.
AC3 Audio: 3/2 Channels (L, C, R, SL, SR) + LFE, 48.0 kHz, 384 kbps.
Dialog Normalization: -27.0 dB, Center Mix Level: -3.0 dB, Surround Mix Level: -3.0 dB
0 of 82927 video frames found with errors.
0 of 108078 audio frames found with errors.
0 corrupted video bytes in file.
0.000000 seconds of video timestamp gaps.
0.096000 seconds of audio timestamp gaps.
==========================================
The audio starts with a 2 channels logo and then it is 5.1.
THE OUTPUT:
==========================================
an avi file (or any other container) with x264 and aac (say 128 Kb) and target file size 370 MB.
EDIT: Resized: 720x406 and deinterlaced
==========================================
THE QUESTION:
==========================================
What is the command string that I should use with mencoder that will produce most likely the best quality output? I know that there is not a unique answer. I am interested only about quality. I do not care if i get 0.5 fps for encoding speed, just the best "theoretical" quality (3 passes and other insane presets :) ).
==========================================
P.S. the change of channels in the audio seems to confuse the transcoders that the whole audio is 2 channels. Only Nero wave editor seems to work correctly (omg).
