The prestige 2007 BR VUK key not working

The hash is good but the key is not working (cannot playback in VLC and powerdvd 7.2)

Not just an audio/video problem, the stream (m2ts) is not detected in VLC.

I already decrypt talladega nights and it's working perfectly.

I'm not in the states (canada) so maybe the key is different for the same hash, so don't delete it right away.

Can someone validate that the current key is working ?

And can someone from Canada (even Quebec would be better) validate that the current key is working or not for them ?

No. It's not the french. In Quebec, we get the same dvd or blu-ray that in the US (region 1 for DVD or whatever region it is for Blu-ray). In France, it's a different region and encoding (SECAM instead if NTSC).


The box is billingual (printing) but the disk should be the same (french, english and spanish soundtrack).

N.B. The printing on the disk are all english, so the disk should be the same that in the US. Only the box printing is change in Canada (for billingualism and address).

Can someone at least check in the current key for "The Prestige" is working ?

It seams to me that any posting in the blu-ray key thread can added to the list. A little confirmation would be good.

Create a BDMV folder on your hard drive, copy all the contents from the BDMV folder from the disc except the stream folder, create a new stream folder inside the BDMV folder and then copy all the decrypted files into that folder

now when you open up pdvd 7.2, choose open files from folder, choose your prestige folder and it should work

The m2ts files in the BDMV/STREAM folder don't play in VLC player.

In powerDVD, Talladega nights plays but not The Prestige.

PowerDVD doesn't even show the menu.

Also, I tried with the menu (but removed the AACS folder obviously).

VLC doesn't show even a blank screen.

Have you been able to decrypt this particular movie ?

Is there a way to test a m2ts file ? To know is it's properly decrypted ? The m2ts file should have a know structure and with that, we should be able to test is the file is valid or not.

I could post a small file for you to test.

Also, which codec is used for the Prestige ? VC-1, mpeg-4 AVC or mpeg-2.

I think talladega nights is mpeg2. Maybe that the problem (but I think VLC should support all of them).

It's always a good idea to run BackupBluRay for a few seconds, then kill BackupBluRay and peak at the incomplete decrypted m2ts file using TSReader. If properly decrypted, it will show you the program map table (PMT) and program association table (PAT). If TSReader fails to find a sync byte in the m2ts file, then you're using the wong key in BackupBluRay.

I can verify that the key doesn't work. Not sure if it works for the US release which shouldn't be different afaik.

I have tested both m2ts files from The prestige and talladega nights.


No problem with talladega nights. TS Reader Lite find the stream correctly.


But nothing with the Prestige.

If no one can corroborate that the key in the blu-ray forum is valid, maybe we should remove it ?

Anybody with the US blu-ray disk that has test decrypting the disk ?


I am decrypting with a PS3 and Yellow Dog Linux 5.

The build-in java is working correctly. Simply mount a windows drive in linux and decrypt de blu-ray on it (need to recompile the kernel with a special udf 2.5 patch).

That's also why I can't decrypt a blu-ray. Doesn't have windvd (only powerdvd) and I think that windvd will not play a blu-ray from a shared drive (powerdvd doesn't).

I am hoping that someone will post a new key.

I will also check to see if I have more that one key file on the blu-ray (maybe the first title with more than one key).

I've sucessfully decrypted The Prestige with AnyDVDHD, playback is another matter.

It seems the intro material and scene just prior to the main movie are MPEG-2 while the movie itself is MPEG-4 AVC. PowerDVD has some serious problems switching between mpeg-2 and -4 in the same disc.

I was able to playback the decrypted m2ts in Nero (with stuttering), MPC (perfect), PowerDVD (perfect); but cannot get the disc to work properly.

Is this just another case of Cyberlink charging for beta software....me thinks so.

yes, I am not surprised as switching from one codec to another requires the application to rebuild the directshow graph. This is a new approach (ie: mixing codecs) so maybe it never got tested...

For some reason I've noticed that VC-1 files that have been extracted don't play properly in the same players that will play MPEG-2 .m2ts, or the actual BD disc.

If you do what Backuka says above, but make the BDMV into an ISO then mount it with Dameon tools, it will work just like you put in a BD disc. This is the ultimate way to tell if the rip worked by simulating a copy.

Noone has listed the key, ive tried to do what they have told me about and it still is not working, did anyone get the proper keys updated and working....ive been playing with the software and get a key and i cant get it too work. grrrrr Help if someone can Thanks

You know what really makes me angry.. when people ignore the rule to not ask for keys. And what makes me even angrier is if they make no serious effort to boot - just yesterday I gave somebody a piece of my mind for not bothering to read the forum threads on key discovery - and since I've never done it myself (anydvd hd works so why bother) I figured I'd make sure I'd lead by example and posted not only the correct steps but the entire thought process right here (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=123111&page=11).. just two threads above this one (or when I'll submit it's the thread right after this one).

I've been playing with the software and get a key and I can't get it to workWhat is that please? Seriously.. how is anybody who isn't you supposed to know what you did? Visit the link I gave.. that's how you write down what you did.. even if it doesn't work.. then you'd just report the results you got as opposed to what you think you should get.

You may be new around here so I'm going to cut you some slack for the first and only time.. but from this point on you need to step up to the plate and deliver.

@VA_TAPER: Disney does pretty much all their discs that way and they seem to work fine. I know my early PowerDVD versions often had issues (especially with the BD-J titles.. e.g I could never go beyond the menu of Cars or Ratatouille, but new players don't have that issue).

@woodspire: Can't you run the usual tools on your PS3? If you check the DumpHD thread you'll see people decrypting just fine - it may be a bit involved though. Or is the PS3 way still copying the encrypted data and decrypt it somewhere else? The whole decryption on a PS3 without a VUK and without AnyDVD HD would be better suited for a separate topic though.
