dvd converting

hello.
I want to convert avi files to dvd(vob) files. I have tried winavi convertyer and The film machin. When I used them I discovered that there is a big differece between them.

My question is. What dvd converter do you use or do you know about some good I can use?

I use ffmpeg for the simple reason that it supports a ton of input files including videos recorded from a cellphone. You can also use HCEnc and QuEnc, which are both free, for MPEG2 video-only conversion and convert the audio via some other program. I then run elementary audio and video streams via IFOEdit or DVDPlannerBasic to create the DVD structure needed for burning.

FAVC was designed with avi to dvd conversions in mind. Avi in, dvd out.
