Hi.
I've a problem here with one of my mkv files. I would like to add srt subs stream into container but mkvmerge as well as AVI-Mux quits early after first third. It's becouse of corrupted frame there, it's noticable during viewing. I can't try VDubMod becouse of VobSub stream in container. Any hint how to add? Many thanks.

Remake the MKV from your original DVD.

Remake the MKV from your original DVD.

Thanks but there's no original disc. I've got this file on Internet, it's freely distributed content. I guess no one noticed this problem becouse file plays well. But when You'll try to work with it further You'll find this error.

Wait, you say it is freely distributable? What video/dvd is it?
You are walking a very fine line here, bub.

What is this? Is it normal to consider every user of videofile as thief here? Or how should I understand this? I came here for help, not for confession.

This video is tutorial downloaded from japanese server which is curently down. Becouse I'm afraid it will never go up again and also not all of my friends speak japanese I decided to create subtitles for them. And that's the moment I found mentioned problem.

You could try a dshow demuxer to fix the file, or use external subtitles. Also mkv2vfr tool might be able to dump the video to avi.

Thank You, Haali. I'll try both tools and post result here.

OK, I got this:
mkv2vfr C:\mod_tut.mkv C:\mod_tut.avi
# timecode format v1
Assume 23.976
0,10370,23.9760
MKV Error: Invalid first byte of EBML ID: 00

Tried a bit of googling, no surprise, usualy is mentioned corrupted file.
Unfortunately I didn't found a way to use Matroska's demuxer to fix the file, if You ment this. Can You clarify it somehow, please?

You have to use graphedit, or something similar.

If it's freely downloadable, someone else can download it and try to get it working.

The forum takes a hard line on pirated content because it's such a visible target. Neither the owner, the hosters, nor the many users would care for lawsuits and an unreliable vagabond board, as happens to so many 'scene' sites.

Hello foxyshadis.
I definitely agree with You. This forum is well known and becouse of it it's in danger. But I don't think that's a reason for substituting for police work. There's need to intervene hard against everyone who tries to drag any ilegal acivity here. But You can't check every a/v file disputed here and it isn't Your task and desire, right? So I believe there's no need for presumption of guilt.

Many thanks for hint, I'm downloading DX SDK right now. As I a bit checked about graphedit I'm sure it will help.

edit: Ah, I see..Platform SDK is the way..:-)

edit2: I stuck with text subs in the end becouse I wasn't able to use graphedit in the way I wanted. Thanks anyway for Your help, everybody. It can be useful any time.
