repairing mpeg HD recording

Hi folks, I don't know if this is the proper channel to post this question.

My MythTV recorded Heroes last Monday. Playing it within mythtv is fine and without dropout issues. Yesterday, I tried to convert it to DVD using ffmpeg and ffmpeg failed when the size was 1.3g. I forgot what frame it failed.

I have used ffmpeg before on many recordings and this is the first time it failed. The ffmpeg folks told me that some frames might be corrupted. I researched a while ago and found mpeg2repair. I will try it tonight.

So, do you guys know of any tool that can repair .ts files like my hd recording? Or can you recommend a free tool that will reencode this HD recording into DVD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you saying that once I follow your instructions, I can now feed the generated output.mpg file to my ffmpeg utility?

what is capture.tp? Would it be my hdrecording.mpg file?

I'm having some issues running mpeg2repairCLI.exe. It's saying

To run this application, you must first install one of the following versions of the .Net Framework: v2.0..50727.

I don't know what to do. Where can I get it? Please help. :)

Yes, but your Hdrecording.mpg must be an Mpeg2 Transport stream file. Rename it to Capture.tp in order for the script to process it.

If all goes well, the output.mpg is what you'd use to encode with ffmpeg.

By the way, I tried the latest version of .Net framework last night and it was looking for SP2. So, I installed SP2 successfully but after the reboot, somewhere near the gui part which says "windows is starting .....", I get a blue screen of death with a message of BAD POOL HEADER. I escalated it to our help desk since I don't have the admin password for my laptop. They uninstalled SP2 this morning and my machine was up and operational now.

However, I won't be able to use that tool since SP2 is required and SP2 is failing on my machine. This was confirmed to me by our support. Some of the IBM T30 laptops in the area are getting the same behavior on SP2.

What are other resorts now? :(

Yes, it's a transport stream. I actually tried the other mpeg2repair tool I downloaded last night before I upgraded to SP2 and it worked. But it was showing 8:18 hours left. So, I killed it. Then the above story happened. :)
