I am having a bit@h of a time getting Office Space to synch correctly. Ive tried It in numerous formats (video and audio) as well as different bitrates for the audio and doing manual synching. The movie is in perfect synch right up until they go into the bar (where he tells his friend that he lost his job). Then from there it progressively gets worse. Anyone out there have this same problem? Ive been werking on the synch for a couple of days now...and maybe im just being a tard, but numerous things have not helped out very much :/

ty in advance for whomever can supply some sort of help

I've been able to fix this problem before by changing the framerate in Vdub/NanDub. You might try the "Change so video and audio durations match" button in the video->Frame Rate menu. It's worth a shot but might cause more of a problem.

You can also set the frame rate manually to something like 23.974 or 23.978 assuming you have the NTSC video.

What proggy and settings are you using to compress your audio? Also what proggy are you suing for your video?

For audio Ive been using Sound Forge (to edit), vob2audio (for conversion of the ac3 to wav), and virtual dub (for audio compression).

virtual dub settings are:
DivX audio ;-)
64kbps stereo 44Khz

For video compression I use Smart Ripper (and have used Vstrip), then Flask Mpeg for the compression. Under the compression settings I have it set to DivX 4.11 @ 2000kb, 1st-pass, fastest...and nothing else changed.

hi

is your movie constantly out of sync or is it getting better/worse to the end? have you tried to delay your audio (AND change framerate)? if you still have the dvd, rip it again and check the a/v-delay value of smartripper, if you just have the vobs, extract the audio streams with dvd2avi and check the filename of the created ac3-file for delay... don't use divx audio ;-7, it's pretty crappy. use lame and mux it within nandub or use an app to create a wave-header and mux it with vdub. mhh that's all i can think about right now...

by the way, don't use fastest in dvx4.xx...

i forgot one point:

i recommend to use any other tool then flask, for it is slow and famous for synch probs... use gordianknot (probably best quality) or give mpeg2avi (pretty simple) a try...

simple.frontend:
mpeg2avi gui with (limited) besweet support

Ok this one werked pretty well except it still goes out of synch.

At exactly 00:56:09 the movie goes out of synch (the section where they destroy the copy machine). Im going through some other sound formats as i have used both mp3 and Microsoft V2. Ill try some others to see how it comes out but still evil evil evil GAH!@!@!%

Are you still using the Flask video? It's well know to stretch certain movies thus casuing av sync problems. If your not going to try Gknot at least try Xmpeg.

I used the mpeg2avi this time and previous tests with xmpeg have proven to suck on my system :/ As in it doesnt work correctly. Office Space being one of the cases.

I too have recently re-encoded Office Space, I tried a few months ago when I was new to encoding and was using Flask Mpeg to encode Office Space and I had a lot of problems trying to get the sync corrected. I don't know what the problem was, but I've since been using Gordian Knot and my sync problems have been corrected.
