dvd to dvd+rw / dvd/r

Ok call me dumb ......:)
I own a HP DVD100i questions
1. does anyone know of a site that has a DVD2DVD+RW DVD/R guide?
2. does anyone here know how?
3. the best burning program to use record now max ....ect?

thks i have learned to make svcds using these pages but am finding this dvd thing VERY confusing many diffrent opinons floating around i guess this is true of any new tech.....but thanks again...:o
