View Full Version : 720p x264 material wrongly rendered with players using filters?

Shortly and sweetly:
720p material coded with H264/AVC, Matroska container (decoding with latest Haali splitter and FFDshow).
The picture is strange, it's difficult to explain, but I try:
Some part of the material is zoomed to whole display window (like digital zoom), however some part of the material shows in front of this zoomed image... In transparent... I have also been able to do same kind of effect with using FFDShow's resize option on lower resolution material.
VLC-player shows it right though. Now, I would really like to know, what is the cause of this. Anybody?

Could you make a screenshot using the Grab filter in ffdshow?

Have you tried different video outputs (overlay, VMR7 and VMR9)? Which graphics card and drivers do you have? Overlay is probably ok since VLC works.

Doesn't look perfect on the screen though...

I'm using overlay, because I want the picture to show fullscreen on my Panasonic AE900. I have Ati X1900XTX...

It sounds like a DirectDraw problem, which is a driver problem; you might try a few different recent drivers just to see if any helps, and perhaps seek help from ATI directly, or their forums, for the external video. (S-Video out has always been buggy for me, so I just went back to burning DVD+RWs. Haven't tried it since 6.5 or 6.6 though.)

I know that the problem is with H.264/AVC codec, but try do disable 'WMV Acceleration' in the ATI driver configuration. I change it with ATI Tray Tool, in the 'Tweak' option.

Or try CoreAVC decoder that comes with Quicktime Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm), instead of FFDShow.

Removing WMV Acceleration didn't help... I am a little bit against about using something else than FFDShow:)

Well, it seems that latest Haali Mediasplitter corrected the situation :D
