How to get Avisynth read MKV in Windows Vista?

I'm able to read MKV files in Windows Vista but not through Avisynth 2.57 using Directshowsource, only sound comes out and no video. Playing MKV files directly using MPC shows that I'm using CoreAVC video decoder and CoreVorbis audio decoder.

Playing MKV through Avisynth 2.57 in Windows XP works fine. According to MPC, the AVS use filter Color Space Converter and AVI Decompressor (YV12). Both filters are associated with quartz.dll according to Radlight Filter Manager 1.4.

I couldn't find quartz.dll registered in Radlight Filter Manager 1.4 in Windows Vista.

BTW, I cannot get Haali Media Splitter 1.7.77.5 to work in Windows Vista 32. I noticed Avisynth uses this splitter in Windows XP. Maybe the problem is with Haali Media Splitter. Is there a working version for Windows Vista 32?

These are the filters MPC uses to play the avisynth, not the ones avisynth uses to play the mkv. For that, put log=true in the directshowsource line, and it'll write out a log. It should write it in the same folder as the file.

Maybe it's using gabest's mkvsplitter instead?

OK I got it to work now. I deselect the disable MPC/gabest's mkvsplitter option during installation. Now Avisynth 2.57 can read MKV files but Haali Media Splitter still won't work in Windows Vista 32 hence I'm using MPC/gabest's mkvsplitter instead to read MKV/MP4 files.

I encountered the same problem again but this time the problem was fixed by moving the source to an internal HD from an external HD.
