Hello

A certain program can extract the Chinese hardcoded-subtitles from avi-files, mpg-files, rmvb-files .. etc.

If I will use a rmvb-file, I should first install a realmediasplitter and RealAlternative or a RealPlayer. Otherwise I could not play the rmvb-file on that certain program.

Why? Where is the connection? What is the explanation?

I have done as best as I can. But the program does not "recognise" the rmvb-file. Though it worked alright with avi and mpg files.

BTW the RealPlayer accepts the rmvb-file fully. It seems that it is the only software that does not need the realmediasplitter.

What must/need I do? Can you give me a pointer? Thanks.

That's just how Directshow works. You need a splitter for the file format, and decoders for the codecs inside, then any processing filters, and finally video and audio renderers to output them.

This is SubRip, right? You should make sure you have the latest avisynth, 2.57, as that's what it uses to open directshow files. And even then, there are some incompatibilities that cause problems. Sometimes using graphedit, saving the generated graph, and loading that instead, is more successful. Sometimes it doesn't work at all; Directshow is a real killer sometimes.

Thanks for the explanation. Waw .. so complicated!

It's not SubRip. It's esrXP. SubRip for Chinese?! I've downloaded from a Chinese website. I'm learning Chinese! :)
Can SubRip extract hardcoded Chinese subtitles from avi, mpeg, rmvb .. etc files?

> Sometimes it doesn't work at all
I thought .. Internet solves everything :)

Do you know how to test the "realmediasplitter"? .. i.e. to work systematically. There are so many unknown!
Are there articles from Gabest and Lillevold about these?
The Chinese use rmvb format much more than the western world.

I loaded different rmvb-files in RealPlayer, KMPlayer (Korean) and esrXP. I use also WMP.
With these results:

RP__KMP_esrXP_guilty :)
-----------------------
yes_no__no____rmvb-file
yes_yes_no____esrXP?
yes_yes_yes___--

yes = works normally.
no = does not work or works with error.

I think .. realmediasplitter is installed correctly(?)
