For months now i have been using Elbys Clone DVD 2 along with DVD Decrypter or DVD FAB Platnum to back up my dvds but today for some reason when ever i try to back up my films on the same laptop as i have always done i get a message halfway through the writing process which says

Writing to video media was not successful:

C:/CloneDVDTemp/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_3.VOB:read error

Data error(cyclick redundancy check).

File 1 C:/CloneTemp/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_3.VOB 23 W2

As a newbie i dont know what this means and it keeps happening on various movies

Hi!it keeps happening on various movies1) You could have a bad batch of burnable media (Perhaps a low quality brand/Manufacturer's ID)

2) Your burner/Your burner's laser may be failing. Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on it. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US...

It sounds like your hard drive has bad sectors, and CloneDVD is writing to them. You should back up all essential data immediately, and scan your drive for errors.

If you're on Windows XP, Start Menu > Run... > "diskmgmt.msc" > right-click on C: > Properties > Tools > Check Now. Repeat for any other Volumes you may have on the disk.
