Degrainmedian vs RemoveGrain??

Both are film grain remover, both will smooth if too strong params, both will enhance compressibility, both will not slow down much a filter chain. They do have differences see respective help.
Degrainmedian has also more params to play with; is a little slower than removegrain but smooths less; also has a "calming" effect for films (or after filters) giving ripples/waves/pumping effect.

From very light to very strong (basic settings I use)+- equivalent
- Removegrain mode 1/5/6/7/8/9
- Degrain median mode 5/4,5/4/3,5/3/2

I usually use removegrain with mode 1/5 eventually 6 not above
I use degrainmedian with mode 4 to 3

For stronger use I go with Ft3dfilter or the gpu version Fft3dgpu, multi-purpose denoiser but really slower.

RemoveGrain is a spatial filter, using pixels on the current frame. DeGrainMedian is a spatial-temporal filter, utilizing pixel values on the current frame, previous frame, and next frame.
