I have followed the Xvid guide and gordian knot is all set up ok. with all the program paths correctly set up. Gordian knot will run and it will open virtual dub mod but during the conversion it always cums up with "Virtual Dub Mod has encontered an error and can not continue".

When i go to the destination that my xvid file was going to there is a file with just the audio from the movie and no picture.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanx

You will have better success (and produce a better quality file) if you return to the original DVD instead of trying to convert an .avi file.

i know that but i just want to see if i can get this to work so i can put a few of my dvds onto one in avi so i can try out my new dvd player which is ment to play avi.

So any idea on the virtual dub crash?

Thanx

Possibly, but after reading your log, I suspect a rule 6 violation and don't intend to violate it myself.

6) No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained copyrighted content! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking for, offering, or asking for help/helping to process such content in any way or form is not tolerated.

Wheres the illegally obtained copyrighted content? Virtual dub is free. Iv Got the origional movie which i have ripped with dvd decrypter to get the vob and and im not asking for help to process such content im just asking for help with virtual dub and in doing somthing that is perfectly legal.

so how will you be breaking the rules and how am i?

I dont mean to be funny but if you cant help me or dont want to help me just say so and i will try and get help from else where.

I also dont want to break the forum rules as i love doom 9 and all of its help that it gives to people like my self.

Thanx any way

I would really apreaciate it if you or anyone could solve this problem for me.

It's against the rules to help someone with copyrighted material, and before you edited your post above it was obvious that you'd downloaded it via the bittorrent network.

AS squid_80 said, your directory was "Completed torrents" before you edited it. Before I commented on rule 6, I also reviewed your history. In this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=120413) you said "I have a lot of divx/AVI/Xvid films with 2 channel stereo audio on them and i wanted to make 5.1 dts to add to the films." In this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=121613) you said "Iv got many divx/Xvid fims on my cpu all at different frame rates reslutions etc." Your third request is once again about re-encoding files when you could return to the source material which you claim you have. If you do, the problem is moot. If you don't, you probably should try a forum in which the rules are more lax. As it says on the top of the page, "Welcome to Doom9's Forum, THE in-place to be for everyone interested in DVD conversion."
