i have both a sony internal blu-ray drive and a plextor blu-ray drive.
it will not let me watch any movie.. i have both win dvd bd and power dvd bd -- neither will even try to play the disc.

i can read the drive contents though my computer.
and i have copied Mission Impossible. but i am unable to get win dvd bd to open the disc so i can extract keys.. i have about 64 bd titles now.. please advise, what am i doing wrong.. or what else do i need to do...

What version of powerdvd are you using? and what firmware is the Sony Blu-ray writer on? If you're using the powerdvd that came with the Sony drive (6.5 I think) then go to http://sony.storagesupport.com/ and check that you have the latest firmware and that you have the update to 6.6 for powerdvd that you can download from here. I had the same problems until I got firmware 1C for the sony drive and updated powerdvd to 6.6. Also if you decide to go for an external enclosure be careful, I had mine hooked up to an external harddrive only bay and it worked fine so I thought I'd buy an external bay designed for CD/DVD-writers only to find that it didn't supply enough power to run the drive. They use more power so you have to check that they have enough juice running thru the bay

i have version 6.6 of power dvd bd and firmware C for the sony driver.. when i insert a disc power dvd says "A disc with and unsupported format in drive D:"

Plextors WinDVD BD is version 7.5 their website shows no firmware updates at all.

When i hit play.. nothing happens.

Try using 7.2, i had problems with 6.6. Also, have you followed this guide?
