I have the us version of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
that doesn't work with the current key.

Current Key:
D540A7ED4596F596C526F16346B8D2DB8B167DE1=Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow |V|MM/DD/YY| B5DC3F3948357D941A5FADBB12F1078D

The Disk I have has a hash of
002E17812EF78F2627FF0A7AC03A5EAD99447BBF

Any help would be great.

One of two possible scenarios here: Either the posted key is wrong or it is a new pressing with a new key. What are the file dates on the disc?
I have found at least one Blu-Ray disc with a different key but matching hash.

The file dates are 5/18/2006

Lets clarifly what you mean by it "doesn't work". There can be many reason besides the key being wrong. What player do you have? You may need check the key yourself.

I have the xbox360 drive.
I have used BackupHDDVDGUI_0.5 and BackupHDDVD-GUI-0.1.3
successfully in the past to backup my movies.
With this movie both programs tell me the movie disk hash and then say no key found in database.
I checked the key files in both and the current Sky Captain key is in there.

I use PDvd 7.1 to playback my both the original and backups of my movies.
It has worked well.

I tried running windvd hd on two different computers to get the keys myself without any luck.
Windvd starts to read the disk then it either crashes or turns my monitor into a rainbow of colors and locks up.

Thanks

@Fas: I have the same problem as you... I think the problem is that we do not have the sufficient HDCP chain to be able to use Windvd, this is why it craps out before it starts to read the disc properly... I get the same rainbow effect as you...

Open the the KEYDB.cfg in notepad and copy over the old hash with the new. Make a backup first. The VUK may still be the same, But the hash is different on the VTKF000.AACS file.
You may want to check the hash on the VTK file just to be sure. It's worth a shot.

Just some more clarification here. BackupHDDVDGUI_0.5 should see the new matching hash and the associated VUK and begin to decrypt the movie with that key, But that dosen't mean the key is valid. I would stop the process after the first couple of .evo have been decrypted and try to play them. If you get a black screen, then the VUK is indeed different on that disc.

Did you check the VUK using my ValidateVUK tool?

jkenzie: I tried that and my output files where all black during playbak.
How do I check the hash on the VTK file?

evdberg: I ran your app and it said the key wasn't valid.

mark me down as having the same problem.

my sky captain disc hash is also 002E17812EF78F2627FF0A7AC03A5EAD99447BBF

which is different from value in the keydb.cfg file. i've tried editing keydb.cfg w/ the new disc hash value and no go. when i start processing, it says invalid VUK.

BTW, this is w/ backup HD-DVD V1.00 (GUI mod 0.1.0 + buffering), so i think the VUK is invalid. it's hard to believe they did a new pressing just for this movie. i guess it's possible, not but very likely.

The Key also didn't work for me.
With 69312E15CE5A2EA86889847167474604 it worked.
So can someone verify that the B5DC... Key worked
for his version?

OK, this SEEMS to be working; at least it's decrypting now:

002E17812EF78F2627FF0A7AC03A5EAD99447BBF=Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow |V|MM/DD/YY| 69312E15CE5A2EA86889847167474604

will follow up later when it's done.

k40: Thanks for the key!

I can also confirm that 002E17812EF78F2627FF0A7AC03A5EAD99447BBF=Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow |V|MM/DD/YY| 69312E15CE5A2EA86889847167474
worked on my disc.

I also tried anydvd-hd beta which worked well.

So can we assume that they released a new disc with different key than the original? (Just wandering)

Thanks for the help

since the original disc hash *AND* VUK was wrong, i'm guessing it was just wrong to begin with.

Unless one of the is a European version

hmm, good point. anyway, just wanna confirm that the new disc hash and VUK works for the *USA* version. the title was in the database for aca_decrypter. i added it in there but the menus still doesn't work.

anyway, i edited the XPL file and ripped everything out except the main movie and it plays fine under PDU7.2.
