Using VirtualDub-Mpeg 2 on Athlon X2 3800+ (2GB RAM) and it turns out very slowly. Much slower than when I use it on Pentium 4 2.4Ghz HT (512MB RAM).

I only use subtitling filter. But even without filter, the program runs very-very slow.

OS: WinXP SP2.

Thanks for any help.

Are all your drivers etc up to date? Did you install the dual core patches from AMD's website to maximize performance? Is you RAM set to its proper speed? How do other applications compare in performance? Have you tried a more recent version of straight up VirtualDub?

Hi,

I think VirtualDubMod is MT friendly, you could give it a try.

@Misfit happy 1000th post :)

well, idk about the OP, he sounds like he is having a more serious problem, but i have been having a similar issue.

i have been using virtualdub-mpeg2 to edit some hdtv i recorded (cut out commercials). the problem is that i cant play back the video and audio effectively (because a 1080p broadcast is a lot of bits to handle, even for a relatively new processor like my x2 4200+).

because i cant play back the video/audio at any reasonable framerate, i cant tell where the audio is syncing up, and i cant manually set the delay.

have you guys thought of any way to work around this?
