View Full Version : Decrypting forum bringing Doom9 Forums down?
Inventive Software

I found something rather disturbing when I finally got onto Doom9's forums at around 9.30pm GMT. There were about 1400 people viewing the Decrypting forum alone!
Now it's with increasing frequency that the Doom9 forums are being brought to a halt because "The server is too busy. Please try later."
Is it possible just one sub-forum is drawing enough traffic to grind this place to a halt at peak times? If so, is it possible to move said sub-forum to it's own server where it'll be better equipped to handle the large traffic. Or, move the other less-traffic forums to a different server, whichever's better logistically.

The forum was recently down due to moving to a new server. Since then, I haven't noticed any slowdowns or downtimes ... it actually feels much more responsive than previously.

I've been seeing a lot of this lately. Is it due to this decrypting forum?

The news about discovering the AACS processing key finally broke on slashdot today.

I've seen a lot of "too busy"s this morning, after it was moved back, but it'll pass soon. (Thankfully it wasn't on the temporary server when the news broke.)

I've had several "too busy"s also. Today when I logged onto the internet I saw this on my personal google page:

There are several links to the forum given. I'd expect this sort of linking is going on elsewhere too.

If it's a matter of funds i'd be happy to contribute a set amount per month as would alot of members (I'd hope)
