What will allow you to re-stream an mpg2 file?

Will any of the programs that are mentioned in this area of the forum alow you to re-stream mpg2 files to a particular rate? Or the standard?

Particular rate, as in a specific framerate? DGPulldown can do that for elementary streams (MPV, M2V). So you'll probably have to demux first.

If you mean some other kind of restreaming, then try ReStream. It also requires elementary streams, I believe.

Neither program reencodes, but just rewrites the file.

Thanks for the help, So when re streaming is it possible to go up with your bitrate? Or only down?

You can set the bitrate in ReStream for whatever you like. It's not doing any reencoding, though, so nothing really changes except a header in the stream. It supposedly is the figure for the max bitrate. I don't know why you want to rewrite the bitrate header. Maybe you have your own reasons.

Hehe, yeah, that makes more sense. Maybe he's just looking for a transcoder. No wonder I couldn't quite understand the request. For some reason it never dawned on me that he might be looking for something like you just mentioned. Thanks, neuron2
