This version fixes a bug which prevents OpenSeason R2 (UK & Netherlands) to rip correctly. As always, there are many other small fixes and improvements.
Additionally, it supports decrypting and "on the fly remastering" of HD DVD discs:

- Some minor fixes and improvements

If you want to test HD DVD decryption but you have bought AnyDVD (not running in demo mode) you have to remove your AnyDVD license key (easiest way to do so is to rename the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SlysSoft\AnyDVD\Key to something else using regedit).

If you don't have a HD DVD drive you don't need to bother, of course.

Yes this is amazing. No more waiting for an hour for the movie to copy from disc/decrypt. Instant, real time playback! Hopefully their decryption method is robust enough to stand up to whatever changes aacs has in the works.

That is where you make your own script then let AnyDVD HD change it on the DVD (in memory of course). How cool is that? Can anyone show me that working? Now if only they would add it to DVDs.

this was due to a player bug if I remember correctly, a bug that muslix64 fixed with his program that wasn't really a bug but a shortcoming of the player (powerdvd or windvd)

I had some minor stutters, But after moving my USB connections from an external power hub (360 addon and HDD's) to and internal USB card and re-dragging the evo files from the disc seems to have help. Only did two discs last night....finally I can back up The Searchers and Mutiny on The Bounty

I tried this in a "I want to play a movie through DVI" situation, and this doesn't work with Power DVD 7.2. My own rip done with the java gui works fine. If I try to read a HDDVD on the DVI display PDVD just crash, staying on screen.
So it seems I'll still have to rip my HDDVDs for some time...

Did you try dragging the files to your HD also to see if that works? It worked for me. I also had to try playing it 2x the first time bacause PDVD crashed out.

I'm gonna say no and that AACS-LA will use the opportunity to shutdown SLysoft for good. But in the meantime you can backup your HD-DVDs with it.

Did you try re-opening the disc playback directly after it crashed? I had to to get it to work.

I was selected as an beta tester for AnyDVD HD when it was still private, and I must say I'm quite impressed with it. It's commercial/closed source nature aside, the approach work's flawlessly in my experiences. I have tried it on Vista Ultimate 32 and XP Pro 32, and it's lovely. I love it and intend to use it not because I want to pirate or even back up my movies, but because I simply want to watched my rightfully purchases products on my rightfully purchased hardware. I have a top of the line computer, but have been unable to watch HD DVDs because I haven't replaced my perfectly good Xerox LCD monitor with one that has HDCP support. I've always gotten "Insufficient hardware for playback of protected content" in WinDVD8 and PDVD. What a travesty. Luckily, AnyDVD lets me play back these movies, and it works flawless. I hope that someone creates an equally slick OSS solution for Win32 and Linux.

These stutters seems to be the anydvd process (I am guessing), since I can re-copy and the stutters appear at diff places in the movie. Never had stutters with all other backups not using anydvd. Since this is a beta , hope its fixed before final release.

I mean these stutters are very minor and unless you are really looking can be missed when viewing the movie. Almost like with a film projector (yea still have a Bell and Howlle 8mm film projector... LOL) where the frame jumps.

Yes I played them using the 360 addons (3) with various HTPC's with no issues and no probm wihen attached to the 360 either.

drbanner70 here. I just tried the AnyDVD HD program and wanted to report my two cents. It does, in fact, work great as it is. And if this is the BETA, I wonder what the STABLE will be like.

After I installed the product AnyDVD-HD on my computer and rebooted, I then created a new empty folder in My Documents and named it the name of one of my HD DVD disc. I then placed the original disc into the X BOX 360 add-on drive, went to My Computer and opened up the drive to see the files on the disc. The files, if you installed the product right and rebooted, should be renamed automatically. You should see now -ADV-OBJ, HVDVD_TS, ANYDVD HD, and SLY!. Then I just highlighted those four files and dragged and dropped them into my new empty folder of the movies name I made, in this case An American Werewolf In London. It took about 45 minutes to fully copy the files over on my Pentium 4.
After that, I opened up Cyberlinc PowerDVD 7.1 (others have been saying 7.2 but mine is version 7.1), at the bottom I picked the source "Open movie file from Hard Disc Drive" and point to the new folder you made with the new files copied over. I clicked OK and the movie started playing right away, WITH NO PAUSES FOR HDCP HANDSHAKES!, obviously! So you people without the HDCP compliant systems will be pleased!
Two things I also observed. Whenever I play movies from the HD DVD 360 add-on, I might experience a skip here and there while the movie is playing. While watching the new file I backed up with PowerDVD 7.1, I didn't experience ANY skips while watching the files. The movie played smoothly for me. I will test with other movies. I own about 15 HD DVDs right now, with The Fog on its way!
Also, not to sound like an idiot, but I had thought at one time my menus for HD DVDs weren't working properly. I was trying to switch between Play , Setup, Special Features with my pointer like I do when I watch Standard DVDs on my computer with WinDVD. I "accidentally" found out I could toggle between menu options with the arrow keys on my computer keyboard. Up and down to switch between options, then side to side arrows to access those selected options. Then Enter to select your new option. I experimented with this as some people were reporting in the forums the menus worked fine for them while others were reporting they didin't have ANY menu functions. I just wanted to point this out to everyone who was having problems with menu options. I use the pointer to switch between options with Standard DVD but I have to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to switch between options for HD DVD.

My final thoughts are that, even though this is a good program (AnyDVD-HD), I will have to agree with Blutach in that you people should continue with making your own program. All of you contributing will be able to add whatever options you want to your OWN program. AnyDVD-HD is fine but we are still left with a folder on our computers. So this is still only a beginning, or at least the next step. I know some of you want to be able to back up the movies onto Standard DVD or DVD-9 discs so that would be the next step of demuxing, transcoding, whatever you guys would think would need to be done to accomplish this. So PLEASE continue to work on your own programs as well!

i am using PDU 7.2 and w/ batman begins, i did notice some very slight skip.

but it is very easy to use. just insert your HD-DVD into the xbox 360 drive connected to a PC, copy the files over to your HDD and the files are decrypted on fly. no need to mess around w/ any keys.

The reason it does not work is likely that AnyDVD HD is unable to get the volume ID from the iso image of the disc, since this is obtained through some communication with the drive. This information most likely does not exist in the iso image, since some authentication needs to be performed before the drive will give it out.

Hmm, if a full dump could somehow be made after authentication, could it be possible to have an image file that does contain the volume ID?

From what I understand about isos they do not contain the parts inside the Protected area (and currently probably also not the Burst Cutting Area). Those are the places the Volume ID is stored.

So: No. AnyDVD or our own program (which will use the Host Private Key) will not be able to retrieve the Volume ID. However if you already have retrieved the VUK from the origional this doesn't matter: a program (like BackupDVD) can still decrypt it. AnyDVD doesn't support purely VUK-based decrypting (yet) afaik.

This is slightly different from a real bit-by-bit copy of a disc. Here I'm not sure how much is actually copied. Certainly not the BCA. But if a Volume ID can be retrieved from a Rewritable disc (which is a nice experiment! :)) then maybe we could re-encrypt the title key file and make sure it works in every player. But this is not certain.

Technically Daemon tools could add support for "fake Volume ID retrieval" which (for example) will always give a standard Volume ID (all zeros for example). Then when we create the iso we could also re-encrypt the Title Key file in the same way making it possible to play an encrypted iso. All highly speculative though.

I have the exact same drive and had (notice I said had?) the exact same problem. It is the enclosure, end of story. I just put the drive back in the machine...ZERO problems. Bite the bullet and put it back in.

I agree but...we don't know how he was making his backupbluray backup. I am inclined to think he did not just use backupbluray and go straight from the disc (because that usually can take between 2 and 4 hours), but I don't know. When I use backupbluray, I copy all the contents of the encrypted disc to my hd, then point backupbluray to the folder. I have never had a problem this way, at least so far.

Thanks for the suggestion to move the drive onto an IDE channel. Unfortunately Blu-ray drives are still too expensive to dedicate to just one PC, so external enclosures are the only practical way to use them on multiple machines.

I've used both methods you describe above to make backups, and BackupBluray does not corrupt files either way. Of course, it's much faster to copy the contents first to the hard drive, then decrypt.

There is no problem with the external enclosure. Rather the evidence points to AnyDVDHD likely using USB2.0 isochronous transfer mode to speed up data transfers. This occurs at the expense of introducing errors during transfer. Asynchronous transfers (with retries when CRC checks fail) will guarantee error-free copying. Slysoft needs to look into this.

hey! i ripped 3x times casino royal (bluray) with anydvd , the main movie file is after ripping
34.293.073.920 bytes the movie doenst played in POWERDVD / WINDVD Crashed

then i tried the java tool :D

(34.293.110.784 Bytes) only some bytes different.!!

the movie works great with windvd / powerdvd!

i think anydvd has a problem!
