I'm a beginner, using Vegas 7.0 and DVD Architect 4.0.

Here's what's going on: I have an AVI which I have brought into Vegas. My Vegas project has been setup as 5.1 Surround. I render the Project as two seperate files, the video MPEG and the Dolby 5.1 Surround AC-3. I bring those files into DVD Architect, which is also set up as a 5.1 Surround project.

However, once I burn it to DVD and put it into a player, although I think it flashes "3/2.1" on the display, it still ends up on "Stereo" instead of "Surround", and nothing is coming out of the rear speakers.

Running GSpot on VTS_01_1.VOB shows:

Codec: AC3
Info: 0xbd[0x80]:48000Hz 448 kb/s tot , 6 chnls (3/2 .1)

What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated!

It maybe a stupid question and I'm sure you've thought of it, but is you're DVD player setup for 5.1 Some players can output 5.1 as a stereo signal.

Just checking!!! :sly:

:)

I can play other DVDs or live programs, and I can get Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital. The rear speakers work just fine - just not with this project.

When I play/scrub the project in Vegas, I'm showing signal on front and rear speakers, but on DVD, I get nothing from the back. (Mind you, my PC does not have a 5.1 setup - but my tabletop player does)

I'm not sure if the problem is due to something I'm doing wrong in Vegas or in DVD Architect. But as far as I can tell, I've got everything set up properly.
