Hi Guys

I have been trying to back up my movie collection and have made a Images of my movies before I burn them onto disc to do this I have been using Alcohol 120% ver 1.9.6 (build 4719) All seemed to be going ok. They burned to the disc (I’m using DVD-R by TDK) and they played on my computer….great!

I then thought I better test them on my DVD player which is a Sony RDR-HX525 and there we have the problem the sound is fine but the picture is back and white and the picture is jumpy! Bugger I thought…might as well test it in the old JVC XV-N212 and to my surprise they all worked! But why is this???

If anyone can help shed some light on this it would be great as I would like to play the movies in my new DVD/HDD player!

Thanks

Richard

TDK for starters. Try your burns again with some Verbatim, TY or Sony media. You might also try to record to one of those TDKs using the Sony recorder.

Is your DVD a PAL or NTSC disc? And does the player support the format your disc is in?

Hi Guys

Player does support the format and it is PAL and it does play some of the TDK disc's

When I used CLONeDVD2 and the "clone DVD" options everthing worked fine and it plays on my SONY DVD player!? So is it a problem with the images or with Alcohol 120%

Could it also be or might be that these images might have come from NTSC regions and my Sony is region 2 and PAL? But that does not explain why it works on the JVC!!

Can you not continue to use CloneDVD2? I always had great success with it, even though the quality wasn't as good as DVD Shrink. You might also try DVD+R media, as it tends to be more compatible as long as the bitsetting is on. This makes it read as a -R disk.

You might also try DVD+R media, as it tends to be more compatible as long as the bitsetting is on. This makes it read as a -R disk.Actually, bitsetting makes a DVD+R appear to be a DVD-ROM (which is what commercial, pressed DVDs are), not DVD-R ...
