the dark without trailers

i want to backup the film the dark without trailers, i have tried
anydvd and looked and dvdfab but it makes the film just start
without the menu part with the special feature section.
id like to preserve that but without the trailers

Try one of the dedicated DVD recoders, like DVD Rebuilder, DVD Shrink, or DVD2SVCD.

Try RipIt4Me. IIRC there is an option to bypass annoying PCG's that will take you straight to the main menu.

Or use VobBlanker to blank out anything you don't want (trailers, warnings, logos, etc.) before then sending it to the next step, whatever that might be for you.
