What MeGUI Xvid profile had I use for MAX quality of x264 to Xvid reencoding?

As with any encoding, this depends on the nature of the source and the filespace you're willing to sacrifice. That the source has been encoded in x264 indicates that you won't need the 90%-presets but little else. Do a comp.-check.

The best idea would be to encode from the original DVD to XviD and not take the byway of using the x264-encode.

I see your point (*cough*) but that's not true under *all* circumstances:

In the days of TV channels being aired in HDTV, sometimes it might be the better idea to encode from the H.264 stream, and to hide the pricey DVD in a dark corner of the cellar ... :scared:
