According to todays "The Times" newspaper (part owned by the same corporation that owns BSkyB), BSkyB is planning to drop its existing three "un-encrypted" TV channels available via the Freeview DVB-T platform and replace them with four "subscription based" channels.
A new specification DVB-T set-top box will be required to receive the new encrypted channels, which will be broadcast in MPEG-4 AVC with support for conditional access services suitable to Sky.
All proposals will have to be approved first.
