OK, i have not had to convert a movie in some time so excuse my noviceness. But i have a couple of movies that i am trying to convert to SVCD using dvd2svcd 1.2.3 build 1 and these two movies will always be out of sync. When i rip the vobs using dvd2svcd, the vobs A/V are in sync but when the conversion finish to svcd, A/V is out of sync. How do i correct this? I have ripped these movies up to 4 times and always out of sync. The movies are narnia and cars (purchased DVDs). How do i convert the movies to svcd and keep the A/V in sync? Also, using cinemacraft 2.6 and also tried 2.4.

I think both discs are heavily protected which may have something to do with this. Why not try RipIt4Me to rip to ISO, mount the ISO in Daemon Tools and use the virtual drive as the source.

Does the sync drift or is it constant throughout the movies?

My first thought was because of the heavy protection of the discs (both, i believe, are disney discs). I don't want to start on this topic but this really tweaks me.....I bought these discs and i should be able to convert them any way i see fit!!
Anyway, i have ripped using what you suggested and am now using d2s to convert from the source of daemon tools.
As for the drifting or constant, i am not really sure as i could never make it through the complete movie when i discovered the A/V is out of sync, which was at the beginning of the movie. What i was able to watch seemd to be constant. I will report back what happens during this conversion process. Thanks for the help!

OK, i used ripit4me, which invoked dvdecrypter, to rip narnia to ISO. Then took that ISO and loaded it using daemon tools. Then launched d2s and converted the ISO. Still have A/V out of sync. Audio before the video. Anyother way i can try to rip these discs?

@carnold

Hi!

When you used the RipIt4Me "package", did you forget to go through the NECESSARY (for Chronicles of Narnia) "cleanup" steps of #3B and "FixVTS"?

Hey setarip_old. I am not sure what NECESSARY (for Chronicles of Narnia) "cleanup" steps of #3B and "FixVTS" are? Looking through the "package" now. I see some FixVTS settings in Ripit4me (some are checked and some are not) but do not see anything in reference to #3B. Can you please explain?

If you run the "RipIt4Me" package in "Wizard" mode, after DVD Decrypter has finished "doing its thing", you'll be taken to a screen identified as "Step 3B", that refers to "cleanup" (or similar). Choose "Yes" - and then you'll see a screen referring to choosing to run DVD Shrink or FixVTS. Select the FixVTS option...

I think i found some of the problem. I think i had to download the installer and not just the app. Now, ripit4me see where fixvts is located and i am trying this over right now. Thanks for the patience
:thanks:
OK, so DVD Decrypter has finished "doing its thing", and i did not get a screen identified as "Step 3B". The only thing i did get was a box that says where the log files were located.

Let us know how it goes ;>}

No go on that one either :(
I did not get the screen that represents #3B after dvd decrypter did its thing. All i got after that was a box that told me where the logs are. Is it a "setting" in ripit4me that i am missing?

I can't envision what your problem is regarding the "RipIt4Me" package.

Be that as it may, as an alternative specifically for "Chronicles of Narnia", after ripping it with DVD Decrypter, just load the rip into VOBBlanker and:

Set an output directory, select "Process all" - and then press the "Process" radiobutton.

The new DVD "package" created by VOBBlanker in your output directory should be "cleanly" in synch...

Maybe i should state that the VOBs after a rip of ripit4me and DVDDecryptor ARE in sync. It is only after the d2s conversion to SVCD does the A/V become out of sync. So, i can rip it (narnia) using any package and the resulting VOBs or ISOs or any way that i rip is in sync. Only after loading those VOBs into d2s and d2s does its thing is the A/V out of sync. I can play the VOBs after a ripit4me rip or any other package and the VOBs A/V is in sync. Only when i play the mpeg2 from d2s is the video out of sync

What DGIndex version does D2S use? That might have something to do with it, maybe the delay's all wrong.

EDIT: Have you tried with/without resampling from 48->44.1kHz, that has sometimes caused audio related issues.

Whatever version comes with d2s. Looks version 1.4.5 with all the default settings for dgindex in d2s

*EDIT* The downsampling from 48->44.1kHz was not checked so now i will try it being checked

Just for the hell of it, try upgrading to the latest version (also remember to update dgdecode.dll, wherever it is loaded from by D2S).

Well, checking the downsample audio did not do anything. Still out of sync. Tomorrow i will try the upgrade of dgiindex

@carnoldMaybe i should state that the VOBs after a rip of ... DVDDecryptor ARE in sync.Due to the nature of the "RipGuard" copy protection used on "Narnia" (and other DVDs), you can get what APPEARS to be a perfect rip using only DVD Decrypter - BUT it hasn't been properly "cleaned up" for use with other programs, hence the require use of VOBBlanker...

OK, so this morning i got the #3B prompt. What i was doing when i was not getting the prompt, i was ripping to ISO with ripit4me. So, i ripper the full movie and got the #3B prompt, said yes to that and then got the FixVTS prompt and said yes to that. Then i took the VOBs and ran them through VOBBlanker. I will now load the resulting VOBs into d2s and convert. 1 other thing i want to figure out, when using d2s and converting to svcd, the movie come out dark. Is that a d2s setting? How do i correct this?

One thing at a time, please. Does the conversion now appear to be in synch?

BTW - My suggested use of VOBBlanker was rendered unnecessary when you finally discovered how to FULLY use the "RipIt4Me" package ;>}

1 other thing i want to figure out, when using d2s and converting to svcd, the movie come out dark. Is that a d2s setting? How do i correct this?Could you post two screenshots of the same frame: the original and the D2S-encoded one.

@setarip_old--Yes, it now seems to be in sync. Thank you so much for your instructions on converting.....
@boulder--I seems to be having issues with getting a screen-scrap of the same frame. I am trying to "print screen" than copy to a notepad file but this does not seem to work. What is the correct way of getting screenshots.

Open the video file in question in VirtualDubMod and find a frame you wish to grab. Then choose the option from the top menu to save the frame. I don't remember the exact places (I'm at work ATM) and names of the menus and options but you should find it out easily.
