DivX vs. DivX YV12

Howdy all,

I have a LG DR165 DVD Recorder which plays DivX files. The Playable Codec formats as listed by the manual are DIV3, MP43, DIVX, XVID, DX50.
I have a TV series of which some episodes are DivX (which play fine), & some are DivX YV12 (which dont play - error: Format Cannot Be Played). Is there any way to convert the YV12 files to a playable format?

YV12 is a colorspace. A pixel is a "dot", and a colorspaces define how color is represented in a pixel or group of pixels.

IIRC, all MPEG-4 ASP codecs (DivX, XviD, and others) encode their output in YV12.

I am guessing that you have some content with a FourCC code of "YV12" -- usually, this means the AVI is raw uncompressed video in YV12 colorspace format.

If that is the case, then the way to convert it is to reencode it, to a format usable by your player.
