I need a How-To on mkv file to ogg. After loading the file I don't know what to do. My goal is to change the subtitles or voice to english. Does Somebody out there know how to do this? Any help would be appreciated.

Why would you change the format? The .ogm container is less flexible than .mkv.
My goal is to change the subtitles or voice to english.
Does this mean you have an english sound or subtitle file and you'd like to replace the one in your .mkv file with it? Just open the file in VirtualDubMod, click Streams > Stream list, select and disable the ones you don't need, add the ones you want and click Ok, click Video > Direct stream copy and save with a new, unique filename. You can save in .mkv format.

Heck, you might as well use mkvmerge, it'll be faster and easier if you're not editing the video.

I absolutely do not mean to be rude but...
I wanted to change to .ogg because it let's me use English.
this makes no sense.

If you want to add an english language, just load the mkv into mkvmerge and add the english track.
Thatīs about all you need to do.

Cheers

Skelsgard,

You were'nt being rude. I downloaded mkvmergegui. Only I have no clue how to use it. If it's not to much of a bother could you walk me through it. I just want to add the english language file to my current file. Currently it contains only one audio track japanese, subtitles french. Any help would be appreciated. The help file just get's me more confused.

Itīs quite simple, actually

You load the files that contain the audio and video streams using the button "Add"
The filetypes can be numerous: AVI, WAV, MKV, MPG, MP4, OGG, etc....

Where it says Tracks, you tick to disable all the streams that you DON'T want in the final outpu file.
Also, by selecting a track, you can specify some attribs for that track:

In the example I selected the track "A_AAC (ID 2, type:audio) from hot_fuzz" and set "English" as the track name.

As you see, I want the audio from hot_fuzz only, not the video. So itīs ticked off.

Then you set the output file name (if you want to, is not mandatory as a default name is assigned already).
And you hit Start muxing for the process to begin.

Cheers
