Just out of curiousity, why do you want, or need, to do this?

Is it a 3:2 pulled down film, pure interlaced, or hybrid?

Hi!
1) You might want to do little research to find out if your standalone DVD player can be made "Region-free"
2) Otherwise, the thread linked to here (Started by the besieged "LadyLiete")may be of interest to you:

How do i find that out? That's like this:
I want to overhaul my car's engine.
Is it a V6 or a V8? Overhead cam?
How do I find that out?
If you don't know the basic video principles, then you're not going to be able to pull off advanced processing.
The answer to your question is: Inspect the video.
Maybe someone can point you to a one-click solution. Not me, I'm a low level guy. :)
