Just after formatting my PC, now if I try to open an already compressed file file the message:
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID' (unknown)
VirtualDub requieres a video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Movie Player, are not suitable."
What should I do? :(

Install an XviD codec...

Problem solved. But I have another problem!
When I try to compress a video this message appears:
"Statsfile not found"
"Cannot start video compression:
The operation is not supported. (Error code -1)"
Help! It's one after another. : (

I don't get it. I'm using XviD MPEG-4 codec for video. And MPEG-Layer 3 for audio. It worked before. Which codecs are recommended for 2pass?

No, you have to run the 1st pass for each video before you can run the second pass. (It's the main configuration panel of xvid.) The first pass generates the stats that the second needs.

Excuse me, but I don't quite understand. You're saying I should save as 1st pass and then use the resulting file to make a 2nd pass file?
Or is something I must configure in the XviD panel?
Before I just choose the options from my last post and it worked fine.

You set it to 1st pass in xvid options, run video analysis pass in file menu, set it to 2nd pass in xvid, and then save your final video. If you are using Virtualdubmod, you don't have video analysis, so you just save it to any random file that you'll delete or overwrite later.
Running a 2nd pass with stats from a different movie (which you were probably doing if you never ran 1st pass encodes before) is a great way to completely destroy your encoding quality. MeGUI, Gordian Knot, AGK, and other GUIs can automate this process.

Thanks a lot! Works great! Just a question, is there any way to do this in batch mode?
(No wonder I couldn't modify the bitrate calculator because I went directly into 2nd pass:scared: )
