I have always been able to back up my DVDs thanks to the tools on this site. I was in the process of re-burning a backup (since the original and most recent copy was beat to death). Then I had a drive crash, and replaced it. I've recovered the VOBs and one IFO file from the damaged hard drive, but the VIDEO_TS.* and the VTS_01_1.BUP files were unrecoverable.

My question is this: Is there a rather simplified tool I can use to reconstruct the missing files, without modifying the VOBs? The VOBs play fine, albeit in chunks on a playlist thru PowerDVD. but I'm needing to make a new DVD for the kids, and I don't know enough about authoring to try to build them from scratch. Any ideas?

Hi!

The timing of your post is rather ironic. I'd suggest you read the following recently closed thread:

Naw, nothing to do with legality. I can post the proof of purchases, UPC codes, and all that. It's just due to little fingernails and toys, the disc itself is unreadable - but I still possess it. All I'm after is restoring corrupted BUPs, not the movies or anything else that might be considered questionable. It's really just a matter of my own perfectionism. If all else fails, I'll simply rip it to an AVI, and de-convert it again from there. Either way, it'll be solved. Just looking for the quicker way to do it.

Just thought I'd add, I'm on dial-up (My IP log for this site should prove that) - I would in no way be ABLE to download anything illegal if I wanted to - which I have no desire to.

Hi-

You can create fresh IFOs using IFOEdit and along the bottom, "Create IFOs".

Thank you. THAT is what I needed. Didn't know which one to try, and on my bandwidth.....trial-and-error is a luxury. heh
